So I'm sick for the second time this fall and I usually only get sick once every fall that I've lived through. Well Guess what I'm sick when I shouldn't be sick. So after watching Farmageddon on netflix a curious question popped into my head. What if I'm sick because of what I put into my body? Think about it nearly everything you buy at the grocery store or wherever you shop you usually have to clean it before you cook it or eat it. We're not talking about organic food you get from the Farmer's Market or from a friend, family member, or someone outside the market. We're talking about every food idem you find in a grocery store. Look at the label on any food you buy from there, does it have words on there you can't pronounce or very long words? More than likely they do have that.

Look at all the beef, chicken, or pork you get. Those animals that the meat came from were way more than likely raised/finished on a feed lot, cramped massive "coops", or stuffed in tiny cages. That's not in any way good, disease can spread rapidly in cramped areas. So in order to keep the livestock "Healthy" and alive they pump them full of antibiotics to keep them "healthy" and alive long enough to slaughter them and get them to your plate. Plus they also eat crap. American grown factory farm cows, chickens, and pigs have the most unnatural and unhealthy diet. They eat most of the corn that is produced in the US, including all parts of the corn crop. They eat ground up chicken parts, cow parts, and pork parts. Go back and read that, these animals are herbivores. Pigs will eat just about everything, but that doesn't mean they are made to eat their own species.

Also corn can be the most unhealthy thing for Humans and Animals. Corn is in just about everything last thing you put in your stomach. They just give it long and difficult names so you can't understand them. Watch Food Inc., Farmageddon, King Corn, Killer at Large, or read or watch The Jungle. Warning...most of these movies are graphic, I wouldn't watch them if you cannot handle blood, gore, slaughtering of animals, or abuse to animals. Corn is given to cows during the last couple months of their lives to get them nice and fat for slaughtering. Although cows are put into feet lots so they can't move around much, have to walk in filth, and generally get obese until it's time to die. Pigs are crammed into small factories until it's time for them to die. Chickens are made obese. Any male chickens born in laying Factory farms are killed and ground up while their sisters will eventually take the rolls of their mothers until they can't lay anymore.

So in short there is A LOT of crap the government, mass corporations, and factory farms put into their produce that generally lower the quality of their food they produce. Pesticides thrown onto crops to keep "bugs" away are usually the thing we have to wash off our food before we eat or cook it. Don't even get me started on McDonalds.

This is the reason why we should support small farmers and the Farmer's Market. The people who actually grow healthy food and food that isn't laden with nasty things. Plus they have names you can actually pronounce.
